I'll try to add a few more insight please let me know if I'm not doing a good job or if this isn't clearing things out : Hi Nappy, I already answered this on another forum, hopefully this info will be useful to other people too. Reproducing Evolute will take some more advanced math and use of the script components, but the object is really your ability to adjust and customize the output throughout the process. Evolute Tools has some subdivision methods but seems to be more focused to surface reconstruction and rationalization: (re)constructing geometrically useful meshes rather than simply subdividing NURBS surfaces (It seems like Paneling Tools does not enforce planarity, though I could be wrong).Īs mentioned above Grasshopper is really a coding environment where most of the heavy lifting is done in prepackaged code objects within each graphic block. With a little patience and some arithmetic more than capable of reproducing Paneling Tools effects, in fact subdivision and evaluation of curve and surface parameter space is one of the tasks Grasshopper is particularly good at (along with point-to-point distance measurment like Mixmaster said). My impression is that Paneling Tools is primarily for pattern based paneling or populating a surface with some kind of surface module and reminds me of Paracloud.
